Where We Live and Work

Frederick County, Maryland

…is an attractive, culturally diverse, and thriving community. Good schools and a variety of housing options make the area a great place to raise a family. Beautiful parks with crystal clear mountain streams, lakes and an abundance of recreational activities all add to the allure of Frederick County.

In addition, the area is just south of the Appalachian Trail, and is close to the cultural advantages of some of the East Coast’s most exciting cities: Washington, DC and Baltimore.

Everything you want is here, or is close by.

At Home in the City of Frederick

Our City of Frederick is the county seat. It is smaller than our nearby metropolitan neighbors of Washington, DC and Baltimore, which means we have less traffic, a welcoming ‘hometown’ feel, and fewer ‘big city’ inconveniences. Having said that, we are Maryland’s fastest growing city and home to some of the most advanced technology in the country.

Attractions and Historic Surroundings

You will find an area unusually rich in Civil War history, offering some of the nation’s most famous battle sites. You can walk The Antietam National Battlefield that marked the end of General Robert E. Lee's first invasion of the North. Tours of Monocacy National Battlefield are also available. Often referred to as "the battle that saved Washington," it was fought just to the south of Frederick City in July 1864. And be sure to visit the National Museum of Civil War Medicine (listed as one of Google's Favorite Places).

A Prime Area for Higher Education

World-class academic institutions include a high-quality public school system plus Hood College, Mount St. Mary's University and Frederick Community College. The county is also a center for biotechnology research and manufacturing, particularly on the Army base at Fort Detrick.

Arts, Entertainment and Exceptional Dining

You will have your choice among an impressive array of restaurants, shops, specialty boutiques and entertainment in a picturesque blend of country and urban living. After your world-class meal (the city of Frederick boasts one of the finest restaurant scenes in the state), walk down the block to the Carroll Creek Promenade and visit the Delaplaine Visual Arts Center. Art galleries, museums, live theatre, the Weinberg Center for the Arts hosting top musical performers and live theatricals – it’s all here in downtown Frederick.

Recreation

Whatever you want to do, you can do it here: Fishing…Hunting…Camping…Hiking…Canoeing…Golfing…White Water Rafting…Swimming…Archery…Baseball…Softball…Volleyball…Tennis…Biking…Equestrian…Birding…Skiing… And that’s just the beginning.

The Greater DC and Baltimore Metro Areas

Our location makes getting to these two cities easy. Both are less than one hour away. Spend time soaking in the monumental attractions of Washington, D.C. Visit the unique history and culture of Baltimore with its Revolutionary War history and famous Inner Harbor.
