The Stroke Team at FMH is dedicated to providing the very best stroke care to patients. Our staff are specially trained to deal with the management of a stroke, from emergency room entry until patient discharge. The team is led by a board-certified neurologist and a stroke program coordinator who both work closely with other team members to ensure all of the stroke patient’s needs (and their family's needs) are being met.
Stroke Program professionals include:

Physicians – Primary care physicians, neurologists, neurosurgeons, emergency room physicians and hospitalists all involved with the patient’s care

Registered Nurses - From the ER, ICU and the Stroke Unit: All are adept at assessing and coordinating the patient’s needs, administering treatment and providing instruction to the patient and the patient's family

Nursing Assistants – In the ER and from the Stroke Unit: All are specially trained to provide superior care to stroke patients and to assist with daily patient living activities

Physical and Occupational Therapists, and Speech Language Pathologists - Who work with patients to maximize their potential through individualized treatment

Social Workers/Case Managers - Part of the discharge planning team, these professionals work with patients and families to coordinate appropriate community resources or plan for a discharge to a rehab facility for more treatment

Chaplains – Who offer spiritual support to patients and their families

Dieticians – To assist with proper nutritional and caloric intake
